Ingredients
| Caramel | ||
| sugar | 2 cups | |
| Flan | ||
| egg | 8 | |
| sugar | 2 cups | |
| vanilla extract | 1 Tbsp | |
| milk | 4 cups | |
Directions
- In a saucepan heat the sugar over low heat to make the caramel. Watch it carefully making sure it does not burn.
- Pour the caramel into a 1 quart glass pie dish.
- Coat all the sides of the bowl make sure you don't burn your fingers.
- In a mixing bowl beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract for 3 minutes.
- Add the milk and continue to beat.
- Pour the egg mixture into caramel coated glass bowl.
- Place the glass bowl/dish into a roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with water until it goes half way up the glass bowl.
- Place in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from the roasting pan and place on a wire rack allowing it to cool completely. Place in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 hours prior to serving.
