Ingredients

Mint Simple Syrup

Preparation

  1. For the mint simple syrup bring the water in a saucepan to a boil over high heat. Add the superfine sugar and mix until it completely dissolves. Add the fresh mint. Cool completely before using it in the rest of the recipe.
  2. For the julep drop the mint into a tall drinking glass.
  3. Using a spoon or muddler mash up the mint until it forms specks.
  4. Fill the glass to the top with the crushed ice.
  5. Add the bourbon until it reaches halfway up the glass.
  6. Pour in the simple syrup until it almost reaches the top of the glass.
  7. Stir with a spoon.
  8. Garnish with some fresh mint leaves.
