Preparation

  1. In a stock pot melt half the butter over medium heat and add the onions. Cook until they are translucent.
  2. Add the cream, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add the potatoes, sweet potato, and turnips.
  5. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking dish.
  7. Transfer everything from the stock pot to the baking dish and crumble the remaining butter over the vegetables.
  8. Place in the oven and cook for 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.

I think that 4 cups of heavy cream is way too much. I'll try this recipe but I am going to adjust the milk and cream mixtures. I feel as though 5 cups of half and half, add some butter about 3 tablespoons and a little chicken stock about 1/2 cup to 2/3's of a cup. This should bake out delishhhhh.
